Kill Bill Vol 2:
It was Friday night in the summer of 2006, probably my best summer in US. During that time I was searching for jobs at a snails pace while going to work outs in the evening and partying every night. Incidentally it was noon by the time I got up only to find missed calls and voice messages from companies interested in my profile. I had to call them back to set up an appointment every time. Finally by the end of summer I got a job. The problem now was that I had to take 2 buses and then walk 15 minutes to reach office. Getting used to waking up at noon, I had a huge challenge now...being at office by 8AM. I somehow managed it for a few days and then one of my office buddyies used to pick me up. Soon I had to buy a car, my first one..Honda Accord 91.
I like it very much and had some great memories from it. And just a day after I bought my car I moved in with my bro Pandu. Pandu wanted to learn driving and I promised to take him out a couple of times, but with my busy schedule I never had enough time. So one Friday night while partying we had to get something from my office in the university building, so me and Pandu went in my car, half drunk. While coming back from the university, I asked Pandu to drive. But he was worried as he did not learn to drive fully and moreover he did not have a license. So, I insisted that he at least make a few rounds in the parking lot as it was empty (FYI, it was 1AM). So he took the steering wheel in his hands and rotated it a few times and then started the engine and repeated. After a few orbits , I guided him to drive out of the parking lot. He was just listening to my directions, so I managed to get him on the main road. I said "Bro, we are on the road already, we might as well drive back to our apartment".
He agreed. And we came to a cross road junction where we have to take a left. I told him to put on the indicator, he did.
After taking that turn, Pandu tried to turn the indicator off. He forgot that the indicator lights go off after the steering wheel turns back. He tried his best and turned off the head lights. A sudden-panic-struck-Pandu asked me what happened in a loud voice. I told him that he turned off the headlights and showed him the headlights control, but he was in no mood to listen. I had to bend over and turn the headlights on myself.
From there we took a right turn and entered our apartment road and as we neared the building, the most feared unexpected thing happened. I saw the flashing blue lights in the rear view mirror.
"Pandu, I think we have to stop, theres a cop car behind us"
Thats, it. Pandu's mind got hanged for a moment.
I told him to stop the car towards the right side of the road. He did.
I then pulled the gear to Parking and switched on the parking lights myself.
The cop's car came behind and stopped.
For a moment, I remembered that we were in the middle of partying( also implies ==> drinking) and was imagining for the worst.
The cop asked for a license, I immediately gave mine, saying that we were just going home. I also told him that I was teaching Pandu how to drive in the parking lot of our college. The cop said that he saw us in the lot and asked why the head lights were off?
I was surprised/shocked. I told him about the inadequate car skills of my buddy. Then he advised us to go home and asked where we lived. I pointed to the building beside the road.
Pandu was all shocked and did not know whats happening or what was going to happen. We realized that the cop was waiting on a small street near the main road from where he was watching all our moves in the parking lot and he started to follow us when the headlights went off.
After the cop left, Pandu immediately jumped out of the car and said he would never drive again!
The best part was the cop did not ask us to come out and do an alcohol test. Had he done that, Pandu would have lost his mind!

Dude good to recall those moments...but even today I feel we were lucky...in other words the cop was dumb. The cop asked for your license instead he should have asked mine...well if it was in India we could have got out with 50 or 100 rupees. Thanks for the dumb cop and shall never mix alcohol with driving.
very interesting...innocent Pandu.:)
